How to say one and more than one

 - Un biglietto per San Marco.

 - Due biglietti per favore.

  • The number one on its own is uno, but when followed by another word it changes in the same way as the word for 'a', eg un panino, one sandwich, una pizza, one pizza
  • When talking about more than one item, you change the ending of the word in most cases. The words for 'the' also change: il becomes i and la becomes le.
  • Most words ending in -o change to -i. Most words ending in -a change to -e.

    il teatro - i teatr(theatre)

il bambino - i bambini (boy)

    la pizza - le pizze

  • Euro is one of the very few exceptions  (1 euro / 5 euro)
