- To ask if a place is far away, all you say is
È lontano? 'Is it far?'
- You may be told the distance in kilometres or hundreds of metres.
Figures in the hundreds are easy to understand and say. One hundred is
cento.
- Then, for 200-900, the words for 2-9 are followed by
-cento:
duecento, trecento, quattrocento, cinquecento,
seicento, settecento, ottocento, novecento
- Cento, a hundred, never changes,
but mille, a thousand, changes
to mila if there are several
thousand:
mille= one thousand
duemila = two thousand
