  • You will often hear vero?, literally 'true', at the end of a sentence.
    It corresponds to English question endings such as '...isn't it? ...aren't we? ...don't they?'
    È una bella giornata, vero? It's a lovely day, isn't it?
    Lei abita qui, vero? You live here, don't you?


     

  • Questions in English often start with 'is', 'are' or 'do', which have no Italian equivalent:
    Vai in centro? Are you going to the centre?
    Parli francese? Do you speak French?
