Summer is the suitable time for festivals. In the evenings,
after a hot day, people go out for a walk. They have an ice-cream, a
granita; they meet friends on cafe terraces, at the square, in the
town gardens.
Towns and villages organize a lot: concerts and plays at open theatres, films at open cinemas, sport competitions, fairs, exhibitions and competitions. On 15th August, Ferragosto, there is the Assunta Day. It is a holiday but very few people remember the religious side of the day. People are happy to combine this holiday with the weekend to run to the seaside or to the mountains. |
